Dr. Ally is a trained sedation dentist, having completed the rigorous DOCS sedation education program. What does that mean for our patients? It means that you can experience the most relaxing treatment possible, in a safe environment.
Why Consider Sedation?
You don’t have to be afraid of going to the dentist to benefit from requesting sedation during your treatment. In fact, many of our sedation patients love coming to the dentist! Some of the reasons why Dr. Ally may recommend using sedation include benefits like:
- Having all of your treatment done at one time
- Putting your mind at ease
- Making it easy to complete more complex procedures
We offer two types of sedation for our patients to choose from:
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
“Laughing gas” is a safe and easy way to deliver mild sedation during any dental appointment – even cleanings. It’s safe for both adults and children, with a quick onset and recovery time. In fact, you’ll even be able to drive yourself back home after your appointment.
During oral sedation appointments, Dr. Ally uses a prescription strength sedative that is taken by mouth, about one hour prior to the scheduled treatment. As you begin to relax, you may feel that you are sleeping or even dreaming. However, you will still be conscious enough to answer simple questions or to follow directions.
The medication lasts for a few hours, giving us adequate time to complete any necessary treatment. Oral sedation patients will need to have a friend or family member drive them home after their appointment.
